After 335 days, there was real quick, this little colt. Both parents minimal pinto, but not even one white hair on this little colt. A beautiful shining bay coat with black manes, tail and legs make him a very attractive picture.

At 00.56 hrs birth was noticed, and at 57.33 hrs, one closed package was on this world! I quickly removed the membrane after which he came to life. Dam, Femme Fatal, was still confused of this quick delivery. After 5 minutes the placenta/afterbirth come down. Meanwhile the little colt came to life and stood up as if he had done it more often. He walked around in the stable and than had his first ever poop! Now it was 01.38 hrs. Than he walked to the other side of Femme Fatal and started drinking. No search, no, he seemed to know where to look for. The clock was now on 01.40 hrs. So, within 45 minutes Don Juan was born, stood, pooped and drunk. In all my live with horses and births I never have seen this before.

After a short night the vet came over and did a complete check of dam and foal. All okay. The IgG was top. As Don Juan's temp was still a bit low we put a little blanket on to get him warm. A great start is there.

Don Juan is a great little colt. We started the imprinting and he comes without fear. Now he gets time to discover the big world, and we are looking forward to a great future. 

August 23, 2025 Don Juan went to the NMPRS examination. 5 months old and at the side of his dame SHM Westernboys Femme Fatal he entered the ring. He received a 1st premium and at the end also became Reserve Champion colt Mini size.
